Objective: To comply with safety standards and requirements our client is required to conduct hazard and scenario analysis for the feedstock tank farm (e.g. formaldehyde storage). The aim of the study is to understand the behaviour of fluids within the tanks and to evaluate different operating scenarios that can have impact on process safety.
Scope of work: To study different scenarios of the tank farm a detailed dynamic simulation model has been developed. The model simulates and predicts dynamic behaviour of tanks’ nitrogen supply system, nitrogen blanketing, venting, vacuum breaker operation, oxygen buildup within the vapour space, relief valve operation, etc. Recommendations are given on how to prevent and minimize risks of potentially hazardous situations in the plant.
